Dragon Essence
A Dragon Essence guide to earning Essence, powering Dragons, mining KEPI, trading and Dragon progression.
Dragon Essence Overview

Dragon Essence, usually shortened to DE, powers Dragons across the Kepithor ecosystem. An active Dragon consumes Essence each day and contributes its Mining Power to the dedicated Dragon KEPI Pool. The pool releases KEPI daily, divided between owners according to their active Mining Power compared with the Community Mining Power. The Pool Allocations page shows the Dragon Pool balance, current allocation and next allocation.
Dragon owners can:
- Buy new random Dragons or purchase specific Dragons from other players.
- Enable automatic powering so Dragons consume Essence daily and mine KEPI.
- Buy and sell Dragon Essence through the player market.
- List owned Dragons for sale in KEPI.
- Combine matching Dragons to increase their growth level or evolve their rarity.
The five Dragon families are Bone, Fire, Frost, Poison and Shadow. Family affects the Dragon's appearance; rarity, growth level and Mining Power determine its progression and mining value.
Earning Dragon Essence
Dragon Essence is awarded through the weekly main leaderboards in Kepithor games. The top 100 players on each main game leaderboard qualify to receive Dragon Essence. The amount received depends on the live leaderboard reward table, so check the relevant game's Rankings or Prizes screen before its weekly deadline.
Participating games:
Each game has its own season timing and qualification rules; earning a leaderboard place without satisfying that game's prize requirement may not produce a reward.
Dragon Essence can also be bought from other players through the Dragon Essence Market. This is useful when an owner's active Dragons need more Essence than their leaderboard rewards provide.
Getting a Dragon
A new Dragon costs the equivalent of $10. The Buy Dragons page converts that price into the current KEPI or ENJ amount. Approved accounts can also buy a Dragon Voucher by card or supported payment method and redeem it for a randomly generated Dragon.
New Dragon rarity is rolled at purchase:
| Rarity | Chance | Level 1 Mining Power |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 40% | 1–4 |
| Uncommon | 30% | 5–8 |
| Rare | 20% | 9–12 |
| Epic | 9% | 13–16 |
| Legendary | 1% | 17–20 |
The Dragon Market on the same page lists Dragons offered by other players. Filter by rarity, family and level, then compare Mining Power and KEPI price. A market purchase is for the exact displayed Dragon rather than a random rarity roll.
Rarity, Growth Level and Mining Power
A Dragon has two separate progression tracks:
- Rarity runs from Common to Legendary and sets the Mining Power range available at each level.
- Growth level runs from 1 to 5, increases the Dragon's Mining Power through level-ups and changes its artwork from hatchling through its later forms.
Mining Power is the individual Dragon's contribution when it is active. The possible values published on the Dragons page are:
| Level | Common | Uncommon | Rare | Epic | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1–4 | 5–8 | 9–12 | 13–16 | 17–20 |
| 2 | 3–9 | 11–17 | 19–25 | 27–33 | 35–41 |
| 3 | 7–19 | 23–35 | 39–51 | 55–67 | 71–83 |
| 4 | 15–39 | 47–71 | 79–103 | 111–135 | 143–167 |
| 5 | 31–79 | 95–143 | 159–207 | 223–271 | 287–335 |
Two Dragons of the same rarity and level can still have different Mining Power. Compare the actual power number when choosing a purchase, level-up pair or Dragon to keep active.
Powering Dragons and Mining KEPI
A Dragon earns KEPI while automatic powering is enabled by consuming Dragon Essence each day. There is no fixed limit on how many owned Dragons can mine at once, provided the account has enough Essence to power them.
| Rarity | Dragon Essence consumed per day |
|---|---|
| Common | 20 |
| Uncommon | 40 |
| Rare | 60 |
| Epic | 80 |
| Legendary | 100 |
The My Dragons page shows:
- Your Dragon Essence balance and total daily consumption.
- How many days the current Essence balance is expected to last.
- Your total Mining Power and active Mining Power.
- The current Community Mining Power.
- The Dragon KEPI Pool and current Daily Release.
How the KEPI Share Is Calculated
Your KEPI share = Daily KEPI release × (your active Mining Power ÷ Community Mining Power).
Only Mining Power from automatically powered Dragons enters this calculation. Owning a Dragon without enabling automatic powering does not earn a mining share. As Community Mining Power changes, the KEPI earned by the same personal power can also change.
Enable automatic powering for each Dragon you want to mine with. Keep enough Essence in the account to cover the total daily consumption; otherwise mining stops when the balance is exhausted.
Level Up and Evolve
Use the Upgrade Dragons page to select matching Dragons for a level-up or rarity evolution.
Level Up

Select two matching Dragons with the same family, rarity and growth level. The two originals are consumed and replaced by one Dragon at the next growth level. Its Mining Power is:
first Dragon's power + second Dragon's power + 1
Example: two level 1 Common Dragons with 3 power each create one level 2 Common Dragon with 7 power. Growth level cannot exceed level 5.
Evolve Rarity

Select three matching Dragons with the same family, rarity and growth level. The originals are consumed and replaced by one Dragon at the same growth level and the next rarity. Its Mining Power is rerolled within the published range for that new rarity and level.
Example: three level 1 Common Fire Dragons evolve into one level 1 Uncommon Fire Dragon with a new power roll from 5 to 8. Legendary is the maximum rarity.
Level-up and evolution are permanent combination actions. Compare the input powers carefully and confirm that none of the selected Dragons is still needed for mining or sale.
Dragon Essence Market
The Essence Market is an order book priced in KEPI:
- Buy — enter the amount of Essence required. The purchase begins with the cheapest available listing and can fill from available market stock.
- Sell — choose an amount and a price per Essence. The current minimum listing price is 0.01 KEPI.
- Manage sales — an account can have up to five Essence sale listings. Cancelling a listing returns the unsold Essence to the account balance.
The buyer pays the displayed KEPI price. When a sale completes, the seller receives 90% of its KEPI value after the current 10% market fee. Review the live order book and total cost before confirming because prices are set by players.
Creating, buying or cancelling Essence listings requires the account Security Code. Do not repeatedly submit an order while the first request is still processing.
Managing Dragons
- Automatic powering — activates the Dragon for mining, consumes its required Essence each day and adds its power to your active Mining Power.
- For Sale — lists the Dragon on the player market at the entered KEPI price. Set the price back to zero and submit to cancel the listing.
- Upgrade Dragons — selects valid matching Dragons for a level-up or rarity evolution.
Changes on My Dragons are not saved until Submit is selected. Listing and cancelling Dragon sales requires the Security Code. A Dragon involved in a completed level-up or evolution is consumed and cannot remain active or listed.
